A SUSPECTED BADOO CULTIST CAUGHT IN IGBOGBO. | Shakiru Seidu We'll get to the root. -Nigerian Army

Once beaten twice shy they say. The insecurity challenges ravaging Ikorodu division recently have made the people to become psycho security alerted. This of course necessitated the apprehension of one notorious suspected Badoo cultist in the mid night of Wednesday 21st of June, 2017.

From the report gathered by Igbogbo/Bayeku Info Magazine, a resident who chose to be anonymous noticed a strange movement at Ayegbami Community, Igbogbo. When he pressed further to get the identity of the person, he discovered that he was half naked with a hard stone in his hand. While the culprit was attempting to penetrate a house at Felefon Street, the resident of the community quickly raise an alarm shouting "Badoo." The culprit quickly hid the stone in his hand inside a big bowl he found nearby and placed it upon his head with the pretence of going to fetch water.

His trick failed to appease the people who have trooped out enmass and gave him a hot chase till when he was finally nabbed at Akindana Street, Ayegbami in Igbogbo. He promised to give the youth who nabbed him a sum of #5,000, and when he saw their determination to kill him, he quickly increased it to #10,000 but they refused to yield to his offer as they mercilessly dealt with him before the intervention of the CDA Chairman (Baba Awe) and HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo who have been duly notified of the event. He was later handed over to the Police for further interrogation to avoid jungle justice.

While at the police station to pursue the matter to a dead end, the Police handed the suspect over to one of the Elder Statesmen in Igbogbo, Alhaji Jelili Abubakri (Hassibunalahi) and the Neighborhood Safety Corp members to take him to the General Hospital for necessary treatment and bring him back for further interrogation.

This was at the presence of Mr Shakiru Seidu when the newly transferred DPO, Mr I. O. Lawal addressed everybody and equally gave his direct lines for any criminal information.

Few hours after the suspect Badoo was taken to the General Hospital Ikorodu for proper medical treatment in accordance with the directive of the DPO, Igbogbo Police Station. When he was discharged from the Hospital, the Police refused to take the custody of the culprit but handed him over to the Neighborhood Safety Corp who decided to take him to the Palace of Adeboruwa.

Unfortunately, this was hijacked by the angry youths who decided to adopts jungle justice and all efforts by Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo and Chief Jelili Oduntan, the Balogun of Igbogbo to calm the situation proved abortive.

After several calls to the DPO Igbogbo, Area N Commander, Ijede and Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, the Police later surfaced at the Palace to come and take him to the Cell for further investigation, but the angry mob refused to let them have their way.

They insisted on jungle justice, in the process, the Vehicle which conveyed the new deployed DPO to Igbogbo Police Station was stoned massively and the tyres were equally deflated. It took the effort of the Nigerian Army of 174 Mechanized Battalion, Odogunyan to seized the scenario because the Police was handicapped by the angry mob.

The 174 Battalion, Odogunyan led by their Commander, Mr Eze was able to arrest the situation with sporadic shooting on air. When speaking with the Publisher, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Info Magazine, Mr Shakiru Seidu, he assured the King, Chiefs and the entire community that he'll handle the matter by himself. He further demanded for the copies of the statements made with the police from the Mr Lawal, the DPO, Igbogbo Police Station.

At this juncture both personal and community Security is paramount and everyone should be vigilant.
