THE COMMUNITY DAY AND LAGOS STATE CARNIVAL OF LAGOS @ 50 SHOWCASED UNITY OF PURPOSE IN IKORODU DIVISION. | Shakiru Seidu Oba Kasali, Ogunleye, Basorun, Akinsola, others in attendance as Ambode sues for unity of purpose

In commemoration of LAGOS @ 50 which held simultaneously at the 5 Divisions in Lagos State, that of Ikorodu Division was beyond an eye saw as people of all works of life, technocrats, entrepreneurs, traditional Leaders, Party Chieftains,  Artisans, Business Tycoons and many more made the Civil Service Model College, Igbogbo on Saturday 13th of May 2017, a day to reckon with as Lagos @ 50 was celebrated in a grand style which was eloquently anchored by the Publisher of the Factor Magazine and a one time Secretary to the Local Government, Hon.Japheth Odesanya.

The occasion was declared opened with the opening prayer said by the Chief Imam of Igbogbo Central Mosque,  Shiek Dhikirulah Tanimose Audu. Shortly after the opening prayer, the welcome address was made by Elder Chief Olowu, the CDC Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA in an articulate manner.

Without much ado, the programme officially kicked started with the aforementioned. Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State was the  first to give a goodwill message in which he appreciated the action Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for his developmental plans for the people of Ikorodu Division which are in the offing.

In the same vein, the former Secretary to the State Government, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun in his goodwill message appreciated the determination of the Governor in transforming Lagos State and it's environs. He equally recognized the sacrifices of love made by everyone towards the development of Ikorodu Division which of course are good steps in the right direction.

However, there was an encomium of songs of praises being echoed by an organised group of women to cheer the woman of substance and an iconic symbol of motherhood, Hon. Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, the Ag Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture who appreciated the dignitaries present and applauded the selfless contribution of the action Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode who mandated the committee of the Lagos @ 50 to ensure the inclusion of the CDCs in their programme. She established that their efforts are making the Lagos State to work.

The Chief Hostess who is the Sole Administrator of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Chief Mrs Bolanle Basorun upheld the existing protocol and thanked Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his effort in ensuring efficiency of the BRT buses, the on-going Road construction works and other laudable projects in the offing for Ikorodu Division. The humble woman further appreciates the presence of the various individuals at the event.

Furthermore,  the occasion was graced with the performance of Apepe traditional dancers from Igbogbo who held the stage spellbound with their local song coupled with their Local musical instruments, while they were still at this, the traditional troupe dancers from Ijede took the centre stage to entertain the guests.  The effort of the MC was employed to quickly usher in the Sangbeto masqueraders from Egbin Kingdom who also engaged the audience in a completely different demonstration.

The audience was on a standing ovation for HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom as he meticulously greeted all the dignitaries present and shortly after this, he acquainted everyone with the Governor's agenda in transforming Ikorodu Division as discussed at the kings' forum.

Kabiyesi also enjoined everyone and the CDCs to educate their wards that thuggery and hooliganism will yield nothing but set backs. Furthermore, he enjoined everyone to promptly pay their tax so as to assist the Governor to achieve his goals.

The Royal father did not hesitate to intimate the audience that Ikorodu Division has seized to be in the back position it used to be because the Division has stepped up in the ranking of Divisions in Lagos State as enunciated at the Council of Obas recently. He applauded Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and his team for their good work in Lagos State.

There was an interlude of a musical dance from a hip hip artiste to make people feel relaxed.  Shortly after this, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives who ably represented the Governor of Lagos State, salutes the courage of the people of the Division and enjoined them to be indivisible with the unity of purpose as he is determined to ensure various millennium development goals to be witnessed in Ikorodu Division.

His speech was followed by the demonstration of Egbin dancers which brought in Hon. Okedeyi the Sole Administrator of Imota LCDA to give the vote of thanks and this was followed by the cutting of the cake that brought all the dignitaries together to be part of history yet again. 

The programme was brought to a closed with the prayer from Rev. Abiodun while the people continued to wine and dine-

The occasion was witnessed by the presence of: His excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was ably represented by Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Regent of Ijede, Hon Chief Mrs Bolanle Basorun, Hon Segun Anifowose, Hon Emmanuel Aguda, Hon Mrs Shukurat Okeowo, and Hon Femi Okedeyi.

Others were Alhaji Sefiu Ogunyemi, Pastor Falohun, Alhaji S. O. Amusa, Chief Golden Jay, Alhaji Abdujelili Abubakri, Hon Gbenga Oshin, Hon Taiwo Orenuga, Alhaji Bashir, Pastor Fredrick Olanipekun, Mrs Otenaike and Mrs Rotinwa.

Also in attendance were Comrade Olusesan Daini Mr Adewale Bolowotan, Mr Kunle Odumade, Mr Olushola Odusanya, Party members from Ikorodu Central, North and West, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Ijede and Imota LCDAs,  Apepe troop from Igbogbo, Jigbo from Ijede and Sangbeto from Egbin.

Igbogbo/Baiyeku Info Magazine, Impact Newspaper, TownWatch Newspaper, Oriwu Sun, Ikorodu News, Ikorodu Oga Radio, LTV, among many other media houses were in attendance.
